Root Canal Gold Coast

Traditionally, if the nerve tissue of a tooth became infected, the whole tooth would have to be extracted.

Fortunately with root canal treatment, at Sanctuary Cove Dental we can save your tooth from extraction by simply removing the infected tissue. This treatment is undertaken when the inner tissue (or pulp) of the tooth becomes badly infected, and if this issue is left untreated, it can lead to an abscess or tooth loss.

Symptoms of infected nerve tissue

It is important to note the early warning signs of an infected nerve tissue, and book an appointment at our Gold Coast dental practice as soon as they appear. Symptoms of infected nerve tissue include:

  • Toothache and sensitivity
  • Deep tooth decay
  • Severe gum disease
  • Trauma to the tooth or jaw
  • Pus around the infected tooth
  • Swelling gums
  • Swollen facial area

The root canal procedure

Contrary to popular belief, root canal treatment should not cause any more discomfort than that of a regular filling. Dr Vin will gently drill into the crown of your infected tooth to access the root canals and remove the infected tooth pulp. Once your canals have been thoroughly cleaned, your tooth will then be permanently sealed and may be re-enforced with a dental crown.

To Note: Any dental procedure carries risks which also may depend on your general health. This will be discussed with you prior to any dental intervention.

Before proceeding you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner such as your dentist or your doctor.
